HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The 18th annual Highland Park North Pointe Neighborhood Spring clean-up campaign kicks off today (Friday) with a free spring flower giveaway from Bill Snethkamp Chrysler Jeep in Highland Park.

The annual program, aimed at boosting community involvement in improving the North Pointe neighborhood of Highland Park, begins each year with a poster contest and ends with a week-long cleanup effort and flower giveaway. The annual effort is led by Bill Snethkamp Chrysler Jeep.

"We have a long standing basic belief that started with my grandfather in the value of reinvesting in your community," said Mark Snethkamp, President, Snethkamp Automotive Family. "The Highland Park community has been good for us, for our employees and for our customers for four generations."

Highland Park school children grades four through eight this year were challenged to design a poster that depicts the event theme of "Keep It Clean, Make It Green, Return to Excellence. The artist that designs the winning poster will receive a $200 savings bond, and the chance to see their poster hung on school walls and the hallways of other public buildings to remind the community of the effort for the entire year.

Today [Friday], North Pointe residents can stop by Bill Snethkamp Chrysler Jeep from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and pick up free spring flowers while supplies last. Flowers will also be given away from June 9th through the 13th during the weeklong clean up.

The North Pointe Neighborhood Spring Clean Up & Beautification Project provides North Pointe residents with access to four dumpsters conveniently located on John R Street, Brush Street and Candler Street. These dumpsters will aid residents in clearing the neighborhood of building materials, refuse, liter and other trash.

"We are proud to be a part of this community and take great pride in preserving our neighborhood," said Snethkamp.

North Pointe residents with proof of residence in North Pointe area can pick up flowers at the dealership's service entrance on Stevens Street. The North Pointe Neighborhood is bounded by Woodward Avenue to Oakland Street and McNichols Road to Ferris Street.
