- The Chrysler Foundation and Chrysler LLC Denver Business Center donate $25,000 to the Weld Food Bank
- Organization provides relief to victims affected by recent tornado damage
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chrysler LLC Denver
Business Center has donated $25,000, on behalf of The Chrysler Foundation, to
the Weld Food Bank in support of relief efforts for residents affected by a
severe tornado that hit multiple Weld County, Colo., communities including
Windsor and Greeley, on May 22. This contribution will be used by the
organization to distribute emergency food supplies to victims of this recent
natural disaster.
"The Chrysler Foundation is proud to partner with the Weld Food Bank to
help the citizens of Weld County whose lives have been devastated by this
recent tornado," Brian Glowiak, Vice President -- The Chrysler Foundation,
said. "Our contribution will support the ongoing distribution of emergency
supplies that are desperately needed following this disaster."
The Denver Business Center and local Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge dealers
sought support from The Chrysler Foundation when northern Colorado was hit by
the tornado.
The Weld Food Bank was first to supply food to the community shelter in
Windsor and has been providing ongoing snacks and refreshments to workers
involved in recovery. The food bank has extended its hours to accept both
nonperishable food and monetary donations for this cause.
Working long hours, the food bank has sorted thousands of pounds of
donated foods to fill emergency boxes for distribution to victims. The Weld
Food Bank has distributed approximately 50,000 pounds of food in recovery
efforts within Weld County.
Although the Weld Food Bank's primary mission is to support the emergency
response of its partner agencies, this disaster required a far greater
response. Therefore, the Weld Food Bank also is providing food items to
nonprofit agency partners in affected towns that seek to aid victims in
surrounding communities.
"Our first delivery of food to the American Red Cross shelter in Windsor,
Colo., was made only hours after the tornado hit," Leona Martens, Executive
Director -- Weld Food Bank, said. "Since then, our volunteers have been in
tornado-damaged communities performing massive food distributions to victims
of these storms. This very generous support from Chrysler will allow us to
continue assistance long into the recovery process."
