Radiator Repair

Save Your Car With A Timely Radiator Repair

The car you own run because of its engine and the engine runs because of fuel. If the engine runs for a long period of time it is quite obvious that it will get heated up, but it doesn't. The coolant you put in to your car helps cool your engine when it's hot, but it is the radiator that actually cools the coolant.

How the radiator works

The radiator removes the heat that is produced during internal combustion. It prevents the other metal parts of the car to get corroded due to heat. The coolant keeps running through the car when the engine is run. When the coolant comes into contact with the engine, it picks up its heat. From there on it meanders to wards the radiator, where the coolant is cooled again so that it can take the engine's heat again.

Check the radiator

  • A regular check of the radiator is necessary to maintain the health of the car.
  • A check of the coolant can tell if there is something wrong with the radiator.
  • Wait till your car has cooled down. Then on a leveled surface remove the radiator cap take a look inside. If the coolant is at a level below normal in that case check the floor for any signs of spillage. Then check the hoses and the other wires connected to the radiator for any sign of crusted coolant. Replace any defective hose.
  • Pour in some coolant and see if the problem happens again. If the radiator is messed up then it needs to be replaced
  • Any repetition of the condition warrants another check, this time flush the radiator with water after taking out the coolant. See if rusty water runs out. In such a case the radiator is of no use you need a new one.
  • If the radiator happens to be just leaking then flush the radiator and fix it with a commercial sealant but if this does not work then change the radiator.

Those who do not flush and replace their coolant are also in danger of radiator damage. For a good engine life, flush the coolant as told by the manufacturers and then put in a new change of coolant. If the radiator is affected by old coolant then the radiator needs to be changed.

How to repair and replace the radiator
To repair the radiator, it is better to get a mechanic do it, as a mechanic is well suited to handle the equipment that is needed to fix the radiator.

  • The mechanic (or you) must remove the radiator from the car carefully and depressurize it.
  • Then he/ you must check the radiator for leaks and repair them with flux.
  • Afterwards the radiator must be pressurized before placing back into the car.
  • Those who need to replace their radiator must buy a good quality radiator that is
  • guaranteed to handle the heat and get it placed in the car by a mechanic.

Finally do thorough check on the hoses and the wires leading from the radiator before riding away into the sun with your car.
