Crankshaft Identification On
GM 6.0L, 6.6L, & 7.0L, Big Block Chevrolet Engines
AERA members have reported some confusion in selecting the appropriate crankshaft when rebuilding the GM 6.0L, 6.6L and 7.0L Big Block Chevrolet engines or when selling crankshaft kits for these engines.
Crankshafts with the following casting numbers are addressed as part of this bulletin:

According to the information gathered by AERA's technical department, there is no significant balance difference between the engines and crankshafts that would cause vibration problems in a stock engine. However, engines machined for high performance applications should be balanced.
