- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
- Remove two caliper-to-knuckle attaching bolts, then remove caliper by sliding away from adapter and lifting off rotor, Fig. . Support caliper firmly to prevent weight of caliper from damaging flexible hose.
- Remove outboard pad by prying pad retaining clip over raised area of caliper, then sliding pad down and off of caliper.
- Pull inboard pad away from caliper piston, until springs release from piston.

- With vehicle in neutral, position vehicle on hoist.
- Remove half shaft hub/bearing nut.
- Remove wheel speed sensor nut from hub/bearing and remove sensor.
- Remove brake calipers bolts and remove calipers from caliper adapters.
- Remove lower stabilizer link bolt from control arm.
- Remove outer tie rod end nuts and separate tie rods from knuckles with remover tool No. 8677, or equivalent.
- Remove upper ball joint nuts and separate ball joints from knuckles with remover tool No. 8677, or equivalent.

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- On models with 4WD remove front drive shaft.
- Remove support brackets bolts at transmission. Pry support bracket slightly to gain access to lower starter mounting bolts.
- On all models, remove starter mounting bolts.
- Move starter motor towards front of vehicle far enough for nose of starter pinion housing to clear housing.
