- Disconnect relay connector, install suitable ohmmeter and 12 volt battery supply in configuration, Fig. . There should be continuity between terminal No. 1 and terminal No. 4, if no continuity exists, replace relay.
- With no battery voltage supplied, connect ohmmeter between terminal No. 2 and terminal No. 3, Fig. . There should be no continuity, if continuity exists, replace relay.

Connect scan tool No. MB991958, or equivalent, to the vehicle's Data Link Connector (DLC). The DLC is located under the lefthand side of the instrument panel, righthand side of the steering column. After connecting the scan tool, follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions.
