R-134a systems require the use of special service equipment designed specifically for R-134a systems. R-12 servicing equipment cannot be used on R-134a systems.
R-12 recovery stations cannot be used on R-134a systems. A separate recovery station must be used on R-134a systems. The refrigerants are not compatible and will contaminate the R-12 recovery station.
The use of refrigerant recovery and recycling stations allows the recovery and reuse of refrigerant after contaminants and moisture have been removed.

Do not smoke or allow an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel system related components. The highly flammable vapor mixtures may ignite, resulting in serious personal injury.
Obtain the vehicle owner's radio theft protection code, then disconnect the battery ground cable. Briefly open fuel filler cap to relieve system pressure, then close it again.
After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driveability symptoms may occur. The vehicle may need to be driven while it relearns its adaptive strategy.

- On models equipped with A/C, proceed as follows:
- Remove front bumper.
- Remove three quick release screws on front of sound insulation panel.
- Remove air intake duct between the header panel and air cleaner.
- Remove wiring harness clamps located at lefthand side of radiator frame.
- Remove bolt (2), Fig. , and install suitable support tool.
- Install suitable support tool to lefthand side bore, Fig. .
