The anti-lock warning lamp is used to warn of a system fault. The lamp will be lit during engine start-up, but should go out when the self-diagnostic system verifies proper anti-lock operation. If the lamp remains lit, a fault in the anti-lock brake system is indicated. After system diagnosis and repair are complete, the lamp can be reset using the following procedures:

On some models equipped with OBD II, the MIL will also illuminate if the fuel tank filler cap is not properly tightened. Tighten fuel tank filler cap until it clicks.
The MIL should light when the ignition switch is placed in the On position without starting the engine. When the engine is started, the lamp should go out.
