DRIVESHAFT, Replace -> Front -> Rear
Vehicle: 1998 Mazda MPV 3.0 V6 GAS
Front
- Raise vehicle off ground and support it with safety stands in proper locations.
- Make a reference mark across driveline and transmission companion flange.
- Remove bolts, washer, and nuts from companion flange.
- Remove driveline from vehicle.
- Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
- Torque driveline to transmission companion flange mounting bolts to 22 ft. lbs.
Rear
- Make a reference mark on driveline shaft flange...

Performing the following procedures without first removing the ABS wheel-speed sensor may possibly cause an open circuit in the wiring harness if pulled by mistake. Before performing the following procedures, disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor connector (axle side) and fix the wiring harness to an appropriate place where it will not be pulled by mistake while servicing vehicle.
Removing driveshaft with joint shaft bracket installed may cause deformation of joint shaft bracket. Remove and install driveshaft and joint shaft as a component.
