After filling cooling system, start engine and allow to reach operating temperature with radiator cap installed. After the engine has reached normal operating temperature, shut the engine off and allow it to cool. Add coolant as necessary.
Dakota, Full Size Pickups & Vans
These engines do not require a specified bleed procedure. After filling cooling system, run engine to operating temperature with radiator/pressure cap off. Air will then be automatically bled through cap opening.

- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
- Remove two caliper-to-knuckle attaching bolts, then remove caliper by sliding away from adapter and lifting off rotor, Fig. . Support caliper firmly to prevent weight of caliper from damaging flexible hose.
- Remove outboard pad by prying pad retaining clip over raised area of caliper, then sliding pad down and off of caliper.
- Pull inboard pad away from caliper piston, until springs release from piston.

- Remove cotter pin, nut lock, and spring washer from end of outer CV joint stub axle.
- Loosen (but do not remove) stub axle to hub/bearing retaining nut. Loosen hub nut while vehicle is on the floor with brakes applied. Front hub and driveshaft are splined together and retained by hub nut.
- Raise vehicle on jack stands or centered on a frame contact type hoist.
- Remove front tire and wheel assembly from hub.
