- Use an Allen key to stop piston rod from turning.
- Loosen suspension strut nut five turns.
- Loosen wheel hub retaining nut and wheel nuts.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove wheel.
- Remove wheel hub retaining nut.
- On models with automatic transaxle, drain automatic transmission fluid.
- On all models, remove splash shields.
- Detach suspension.
- Disconnect stabilizer link end from suspension strut.
- Disconnect tie-rod end.
- Disconnect lower suspension arm from wheel knuckle.

- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Disengage alternator drive belt from alternator pulley.
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove righthand wheel and tire.
- Remove righthand outer tie rod end from righthand spindle.
- Remove front and rear Y pipe flange fasteners from exhaust manifolds.
- Remove stud bolt and nut retainer from oil pan, then remove remaining nuts and bolts from U pipe outlet connection.
- Discard exhaust converter inlet gasket, then remove Y pipe.
