- Place drain pan under the master cylinder.
- Using a suitable wrench, disconnect brake lines from the master cylinder. Plug all lines and fittings.
- Remove master cylinder-to-brake booster attaching nuts.
- Pull master cylinder outward and away from brake booster.
- Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
- Prior to installing a new or rebuilt master cylinder, it should be bench bled as described under "Brake System Bleed."
- Torque master cylinder-to-brake booster attaching nuts to 170-230 inch lbs.
- Torque brake line fittings to 170 inch lbs.

Do not smoke or allow an open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel system related components. The highly flammable vapor mixtures may ignite, resulting in serious personal injury.
Prior to disconnecting fuel lines, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spray of fuel.
After the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driveability symptoms may occur. The vehicle may need to be driven while it relearns its adaptive strategy.

- Loosen, but do not remove, stub axle to hub/bearing retaining nut while vehicle is on floor and brakes applied, then raise and support vehicle and remove front wheel and tire assembly.
- Remove brake caliper and support aside, then the brake disc.
- Remove tie rod end attaching nut, then the tie rod end stud from steering knuckle using remover tool No. MB-991113, or equivalent.
- Remove vehicle speed sensor cable routing bracket.
- Remove cotter pin and castle nut from stud of lower ball joint at steering knuckle.

- Remove B+ terminal cover by spreading cover with a small flat blade tool.
