- Raise and support rear of vehicle, then remove tire and wheel assembly.
- Remove brake drum. If brake lining is dragging on brake drum, back off brake adjustment by rotating adjustment screw. Refer to individual chassis chapter for procedure. If brake drum is rusted or corroded to axle flange and cannot be removed, lightly tap axle flange to drum mounting surface with suitable hammer.
- Install suitable wheel cylinder clamp over ends of wheel cylinder to retain pistons in bore.

FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF
Fuel supply tubes will remain pressurized for long periods of time after engine shutdown. This pressure must be relieved before performing fuel system service. A valve is provided on the fuel injection supply manifold for this purpose.
- Remove air cleaner assembly.
- Connect EFI and CFI fuel pressure gauge tool No. T80L-9974-B, or equivalent, to fuel pressure relief valve cap on fuel injection supply manifold.

- Disconnect fitting on rear brake tube from hose end fitting at frame mounted bracket. Plug end of brake tube to prevent fluid loss and entry of dirt.

- On models equipped with ABS, depress brake pedal several times to exhaust all vacuum in the system.
- On all models, disconnect brake lines from master cylinder, then all necessary electrical connectors.
- On models equipped with ABS, disconnect hydraulic control unit supply hose at master cylinder. Secure hose in a position to prevent brake fluid loss.
- On all models, remove nuts retaining master cylinder to brake booster.
- Remove master cylinder.
