DESCRIPTION
The coolant fan is controlled by the engine control module (ECM) via the coolant fan relay. The ECM receives input signals from the coolant temperature sensor (CTS), vehicle speed sensor and the A/C mode selector. The ECM activates the coolant fan relay when the engine coolant temperature exceeds 227°F, the air conditioning is turned on or if the coolant temperature sensor fails when vehicle speed is below 35 mph by grounding circuit 535 or 536.
