Disassemble
- Disassemble compressor in numbered sequence shown in Fig. , noting the following:
- Remove crankshaft nut by installing two six millimeter bolts by one inch long into holes of armature plate. Hold bolts using two box-end wrenches to prevent crankshaft from turning, then remove crankshaft nut and armature plate.
- Using a screwdriver or snap-ring pliers, remove seal plate from front housing.
- Using a brass bar, remove bearing from front housing.
- Inspect all surfaces for scoring, cracks or deformation.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT FAN MOTOR, REPLACE
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Disconnect fan motor electrical connector.
- Remove air silencer and stay.
- Remove cooling fan retaining bolts, then the cooling fan.
- Reverse procedure to install.
COMPONENT INSPECTION
- Using an ohmmeter, check manifold temperature sensor resistance. Resistance should be approximately 4,000 ohms at 194°F and 2,000 ohms at 230°F.
- Using an ohmmeter, check cooling fan motor relay circuit, fan relay is located behind RH cowl trim. Refer to specified value chart...

These engines do not require a specified bleed procedure. After filling cooling system, run engine to operating temperature with radiator/pressure cap off. Air will then be automatically bled through cap opening.

- Remove radiator cap, then drain coolant from engine and radiator drain cocks. Engine drain cocks are located at front center and rear right of cylinder block.
- Close drain cocks.
