BRAKE PAD REPLACE
- Raise and support vehicle, then remove master cylinder cap.
- On Q45 models, disconnect speed sensor connector.
- On all models, remove lower caliper mounting pin/bolt.
- Pivot caliper upwards. Remove pad retainers and inner and outer shims. Fig. .
- Remove brake pads.
- Compress caliper piston with suitable C-clamp.
- Reverse procedure to install. Torque to specifications and bleed brake system.

Do not spill brake fluid on painted surfaces, it may cause damage to the paint. If brake fluid is spilled, wash immediately with water.
- Place container under master cylinder to avoid spillage, then fill master cylinder with brake fluid.
- Connect hose to bleeder valves, then depress brake pedal several times.
- With pressure applied to pedal open bleeder valve to release air trapped in system.

BRAKE SYSTEM BLEED
- Observe following precautions when bleeding brake system.
- Carefully monitor brake fluid level at master cylinder during bleeding procedure.
- Fill reservoir with new Dot 3 brake fluid.
- Ensure fluid level is full at all times.
- Connect a transparent vinyl tube to air bleeder valve.
- Fully depress brake pedal several times.
- With brake pedal depressed, open air bleeder valve to release air.
- Release brake pedal slowly.
- Repeat steps 3 through 5 until clear brake fluid comes out of air bleeder valve.
- On models less ABS, bleed system in following order:
- Left rear caliper.
