- Press adjuster pin and spring washer into shoe and lining so that pin projects .275-.283 inch from the side on which the adjuster actuator is installed.
- Install adjuster shoe and lining, to front of vehicle on left side or to rear of vehicle on right side.
- Install parking brake lever on shoe and lining with spring washer, pin and retaining ring. Install spring washer with concave side against parking brake lever.
- Attach adjuster shoe and lining to remaining shoe with lower return spring.
- Install both shoes on backing plate, securing with hold-down pins and springs.

- Install drive axle seal protector J-34754 on outer joint.
- Insert a screwdriver or drift into caliper and rotor to prevent rotor from turning and remove hub nut and washer.
- Remove lower ball joint cotter pin and nut, then loosen joint using tool No. J-29330. If right axle is being removed, turn wheel to left, if left axle is being removed, turn wheel to right.
